Here are our 2013 board members...

President: John Lee

Diving history…I was first certified as a NAUI open-water diver in 1971 (Shark River Inlet, Asbury Park, NJ) and have since earned a Master Diver cert with specialty tickets in Cave, Nitrox, Rebreather and others (thanks for your patience, Bill Manrow and Jeff Bozanic!). I have been lucky enough to dive in some of the most beautiful, and challenging, latitudes. LSD…I’m fortunate to have been associated with the Laguna Sea Dwellers for the last decade. During that time, I have held positions with the Special Projects Committee, as AV Sherpa, Member at Large, Secretary and Vice President. Why LSD...When I first became a member, I quickly realized how passionate the Laguna Sea Dwellers were about the sport. The diverse membership and hard-working Boards forged a thriving organization, full of activities, travel, and opportunities for all levels - and ambitions. Because of such, LSD is one of the most active, and largest, dive clubs in all of California. Wow, I wanted to be involved! As President, I will continue with that spirit, vision and vigor by advancing this organization and offering opportunities for divers and non-divers alike. My involvement in the club and the many friendships I have made throughout only reinforce my commitment to leverage LSD's past accomplishments and maintain our momentum into 2013. Thank you for your consideration and support!

Vice President: Gary Williams

Hello, my name is Gary. Most of you know me as the chair for the boat committee of the club for the last 1 ½ years. I received my open water certification in April 2008. I joined the club about two years later because I wanted a bigger circle of dive buddies. Being a member of the club has given me the opportunity to meet so many of you and I have enjoyed being a part of a great group of people. I’ve been a member of a yacht club and a country club, but this club is by far the most interesting and economical club I’ve been in. As vice president, I would work to make sure that the club continues to have fun activities and that this continues to be a club you will want to be a part of. I’d listen to your comments both positive and negative, and work to correct your concerns or issues. The club is after all, something we all want to be a part of for enjoyment and leisure.

Secretary: Dianne Buckner

I moved to California in 2008, was certified (diving) in July 2009. I work as a hospice nurse locally. I am honored to be secretary of this wonderful group of divers. I was secretary for a large chapter of the Navy League of the United States for several years before moving from St. Louis, MO.

Treasurer: Kirk Wolshyn

LSD has given me much enjoyment over the years. I would like to give back to the club. During my time with LSD I have been actively involved in several club functions, most notably, the luaus. This year, along with Diane Buckner, I was half of the steering committee for the luau’s food group. As a member of the steering committee I was responsible for planning a major portion of the luau and bringing it in on budget. The luau also required coordinating with the other groups involved, boats, entertainment, etc. I enjoyed doing the work involved and felt a sense of pride and accomplishment in giving back to the club.

Membership: Diana Siciliano

So, at the end of 2011, I made a New Year’s resolution to become scuba certified in 2012. A few days later, I met Cathy Solomon, Ed Mickus, Sherri Cubillos and Bruce McKeon while hiking up in Newport Coast. I shared my goal with them and they immediately invited me to join the Laguna Sea Dwellers! Since then I have obtained my certification and logged 12 fantastic dives in Catalina, Laguna Beach and La Paz, Mexico. I am enjoying this sport as much as I dreamed I would when watching Jacques Cousteau films back in elementary school. I am so grateful to have such passionate and supportive people with whom to share this sport. It has also been gratifying to see several people become inspired to think about taking up, or returning to, diving as a result of watching me venture into it. As Membership Chairperson, I would love to help Laguna Sea Dwellers expand membership and introduce people to the sport of diving through increasing our visibility in the community. Over the next year I plan to continue to improve my skills and knowledge, and begin the process of becoming a certified rescue diver.
